We can choose our friends, but not our families. However, we can control our believes and behavior
which if we choose to follow God's ways may put us at odds with our parents. Father and son may share many physical attributes, but be totally different in character. A daughter may share many of her mother's mannerisms, but walk a completely dissimilar path in her life.
This was undoubtedly true in the case of Korah's family. His sons bore his family name but they could not have been less like him spiritually. Whilst their father rebelled against God and paid with his life, their lives speak of faith and courage and challenge us, who dwell in the midst of a "crooked and perverse generation" to dare to be different from those around us, however great and from whatever source the pressure to conform may come.
There is much we can learn from the lives of Korah's sons, from the stand that they made, and from the beautiful psalms that they were inspired to write.
