Bible Teaching about the Approaching Thousand Years

A thousand years ago, at the end of the first Christian millennium, there was great expectation that something momentous would happen. Religious leaders taught about the impending destruction of Antichrist and an era of peace under the rule of Jesus Christ. Despite preparations being made by many people who thought the end of the world was drawing near, nothing happened. Will the same thing be true of the year 2000? And if it is, how will people cope with the disappointment?
